I was born in Santa Barbara, California in November, 1947. A few years later, my family moved to the dryer climate of the San Joaquin Valley. I grew, went to school, and started my family in and around Bakersfield, California.
My wife Nancy and I, have raised our six children there and with five grand children, are looking forward to traveling and exploring this wonderful country when I retire. I’m hoping retirement will happen early in 2008.

As I close in on retirement, I’ve been giving some thought to the things I most enjoy doing. It’s really staggering as I think about it and I wonder how I’m going to fit it all in. I’m so looking forward to traveling across this country and seeing the beautiful sights I’ve long wanted to visit. I’ll make a point of seeing the beautiful covered bridges in the New England fall and experience the sights and sounds of the south during the blooming time of spring. Then is the beautiful northwest mountains and forests, not to mention the wonderful Pacific coastline and so many other places I haven’t been yet. Then, I think of my newly found love for photography and how that will fit in so beautifully with my traveling thoughts. So many places to go and things to snap pictures of, and yet there is my woodworking I’ve enjoyed so much over the last several years. I’ve finally picked up most of the tools for that and have enough woods that it’s really in the way so now all I need is a little “retirement time” to get into my wood play. Can’t forget about the guitar I’ve been messing with and all the home videos I’ve been putting off copying to DVD.
Humm I just don’t have time for this working stuff. Well, not last and certainly not least, I have so many wonderful friends across this country that I’d love to visit.
Here is the very best part though. I have found a natural fruit product that has helped me regain some of my youthful step and feel. I can again, get up off the floor or get out of a car after driving for hours and not hurt. I can feel my hands improving so playing that guitar will be enjoyable for many years to come. I’ve found that energy that enables me to leap tall buildings in a single bound, well maybe that’s a stretch but I do have that bounce in my step and most of my pains are gone that were progressively hurting me more each year. As I look at retirement today, I see a truly enjoyable time of my life coming instead of being limited by the aches and pains of advancing age. I’m feeling great and getting better each week and if you ask me, I’ll be delighted to tell you how to get this way yourself.
I thank my Heavenly Father for all the many blessings of having my wonderful family and it is my prayer that they will each reach and exceed the potential they all have.
Thank you for sharing some time with me, and I hope you find things here that will being smiles and enjoyment.
Love and hugs to all
James O’Brien
