Shadows

Cute little groundhog,
Sleeping in his den,
Dreaming of the coming days;
When winter days will end.

Soon his little clock will sound
On February 2,
Then he'll come out of his den,
He has a job to do.

You see he has a special gift,
The secret's in his head;
For he can tell when spring will come,
Or so it has been said.

The story goes that if he sees,
His shadow on that day,
The winter will extend six weeks,
And scare the spring away.

So if we want the spring to come
Without a long delay,
Let's hope for clouds to hide the sun,
This coming Groundhog Day.
