Columbia Tribute

The day started in disbelief,
No one knew what went wrong.
But as we watched events unfold,
We knew before too long.

Columbia had run her course
Her destiny fulfilled.
The flight was sixteen minutes short;
Our nation's heart was chilled.

And yet as we look back upon
The ship and Honored crew,
Remembering accomplishments
In all they had to do.

They each gave all they had to give
Their lives were lived with zest,
And as they met their challenges,
They conquered every test.

But, more importantly we find
If we'll just look to see;
They taught through their example that,
We are all family.

With courage and determined hearts,
They've shown us how to give.
They're Heroes in the truest sense,
They've shown us how to live.

And now their souls are taken home
To God, that gave them life.
Their spirits caught by Angel's hands,
While their ship succumbed to strife.

I pray their families are blessed
With all they stand in need,
And pray that we may nurture well
Their human family seed.
