A Morning Prayer

The darkness of the waning night
To dawn, is giving way,
And colors of the morning
Generate a prayer to say.

Then as the morning sun begins
To kiss the autumn leaves,
I too begin the morning as
I get down on my knees.

My prayer begins with gratitude
For blessing that I see,
The frosty mornings and the colored
Leaves upon the trees.

I also see Thanksgiving time,
And smiles this holiday,
With people helping people as
They go along their way.

And then I pray for safety as
We travel here or there,
And pray the spirit that is felt,
Is something we will share.

This morning while I talk with God
About Thanksgiving days,
I'll close with thanks for all we have,
And give Him all my praise.
