I’ve had great friends as time slips by,
Yet some have gone away.
And yes, I’ll always love these friends
Although some chose to stray.
I miss their love and things we’ve shared
With every passing day,
But hope exists, I pray for them
That they will find their way.
I've been the lost and wayward friend,
I’ve been the friend who ran.
I've turned away from friends I’ve had,
I've built my house on sand.
But Someone still had faith in me,
Someone who loved me still.
Someone remained a steadfast friend,
Someone who always will.
And though I've spent some valued time
To lost and twisted ways,
I've found my way because this Friend
Walked with me through the maze.
That Friend of course was Christ the Lord,
He stayed right by my side.
His shoulder gave a place for tears,
His ears where I confide.
So now I hope to be a friend
As Jesus was to me,
I’ll try to hold the light of Christ
For all my friends to see.
